In mid-November, the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya received the first truck with tents, blankets, and sleeping bags from partners from the Association SAFE (France). At the same time, a similar shipment arrived in Mykolaiv. This marked the start of a complex process of multi-component logistics for important aid, requests for which the organization received from military units and emergency services, local authorities caring for affected civilians, and volunteers working in frontline settlements.

The tents, which were obtained from France and range in size from 16 to 42 square meters, are adapted for various purposes and can be connected to different utilities. Among the key requests are the organization of temporary accommodation for military and civilians, medical stations in field conditions, warehouses, and supply points.

Some of the tents will be used as future warming centers. The Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya received requests for assistance in setting up such centers in a number of regions back in November, but given the current situation with enemy shelling in the utilities and energy sectors, the need for the population to have access to alternative sources of heat, electricity, and communications is constantly growing. Therefore, tents of various configurations have been and remain a relevant aid for both civilian and military infrastructure.

Currently, batches of tents have already been donated to military units serving to protect Ukraine in the Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Odesa, and Donetsk regions. Some of the shipments were supplemented with blankets and sleeping bags, which were also brought from France. In the north and south of the country, the tents will be used to set up warming centers, and a number of requests were made to support healthcare facilities and other emergency services.

In total, four humanitarian shipments from SAFE delivered more than 700 tents and over 2 tons of blankets to Ukraine. We thank our French friends for this important aid, which is especially needed during the winter.

As a reminder, since the beginning of the full-scale russian-Ukrainian war, the Association SAFE has donated five field hospitals and two sea containers for the organization of stabilization points near the front line.
