Recently, a training session entitled "Model for the Diagnosis, Treatment, and Prevention of War Trauma: The Experience of the Mental Health Center at the Multidisciplinary Hospital" was held in Lviv at the UNBROKEN Ukraine Mental Health Center. Tetyana Hoydash, the Committee’s medical coordinator, participated in the training.

The target audience for the educational event is psychiatrists, psychotherapists, psychophysiologists, emergency medicine doctors, narcologists, physiotherapists, and other industry specialists. During the training, specialists from the UNBROKEN Ukraine Mental Health Center shared their experience in the treatment and prevention of war-related mental trauma with their colleagues. It is important to note that the methods presented are based on modern neurobiological approaches and clinical protocols that are already being effectively applied in the institution’s work.

The key topics of the professional discussion were the neurobiological basis of psychological trauma, the use of instrumental methods (TMS and neurofeedback), the treatment of comatose states, the specifics of communicating with patients who have suffered from captivity and torture, etc.

"Medical Assistance Committee in Zakarpattya has always prioritized psychosocial support for the population in its activities, strengthening it in view of the challenges and needs of wartime. On the one hand, our team implements measures to deepen the relevant competencies of medical workers in different regions of the country, and on the other hand, expands the boundaries of its own experience. We are concerned with issues such as the diagnosis and treatment of war-related psychological trauma, planning and providing psychological assistance, multidisciplinary cooperation, reintegration, and social support for war victims. That is why participation in the training was entirely justified, and we will scale its results in the context of our organization’s projects", notes Tetyana Hoydash.

The event was held as part of the project "Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Modern Prosthetics – Continuation", which is being implemented by the Charitable Organization "CF UNBROKEN Ukraine" through the "Ukrainian Rapid Response Fund" program, which is being implemented by IREX in Ukraine with the support of the U.S. Department of State.
