Within the framework of the project "Improving the Protection of Children in Emergencies in Ukraine by Providing Safe Shelters, Food and Non-Food Items, and Psychosocial Support", a specialized cargo of medical equipment was donated to the Okhtyrka Central District Hospital of the Okhtyrka City Council in Sumy Oblast.
Okhtyrka is located 40 kilometers from the russian border, which is why in February 2022 the city was one of the first in Ukraine to suffer devastating strikes by russian artillery and aircraft. Enemy troops destroyed infrastructure, educational and healthcare facilities, and civilian homes. Today, Sumy region is once again in the epicenter of hostilities, with explosions occurring daily in the cities and towns of Okhtyrka district, and hundreds of civilians suffering from injuries, wounds, and contusions due to enemy shelling. Despite these circumstances, young people want to continue their lives in their hometown in Sumy region and have the courage to give birth to children. In the midst of the war, about 200 babies are born annually in the Okhtyrka Central District Hospital.
"In order to ensure full medical care in accordance with the requirements of the National Health Service of Ukraine and modern European standards, our institution needs to purchase modern equipment: a patient monitor with a touch screen, various peripherals for patient monitors, a bilirubinometer, etc.", – stated in the request of the Okhtyrka Central District Hospital of the Okhtyrka City Council.
Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya has already donated the equipment listed in the request to the medical institution, which we hope will improve its material and technical condition and help the little patients stay healthy.
The project "Improving the Protection of Children in Emergencies in Ukraine by Providing Safe Shelters, Food and Non-Food Items, and Psychosocial Support" is being implemented by the Charitable Organization "Charity Fund "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya" with the support of "terre des hommes Deutschland e.V." and funding from the German Federal Foreign Office.
