Recently, we met in our office in Uzhhorod with Member of the European Parliament (MEP), Carola Rackete, who is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.
We talked about the current situation in Ukraine and the prospects for preserving and restoring the agricultural sector after the war. Such lively dialogues are extremely important for us – without intermediaries and third-party interpretations. We also told Ms. Rackete about the activities of the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya, in particular about the areas actualized by the russian-Ukrainian war.
"Having 10 years of experience in dealing with the challenges of wartime in Ukraine, we are now focusing on the needs that are obvious to society: comprehensive support for IDPs, including the organization of shelters, comprehensive assistance to medical institutions, and strengthening the energy infrastructure of socially important institutions. At the same time, we have not abandoned any pre-war component of our work – we also take care of people with disabilities, improve living and employment conditions for the wards of several residential care facilities in Zakarpattia. The organization is deepening its international subjectivity, has reliable partners abroad, and is forming new ties that are transforming into fruitful cooperation, including support for NGOs. We are convinced that it is better to develop civil society as a whole than to scale our own structure", said Nataliya Kabatsiy, director of CAMZ.
The MEP stressed that it is important to hear and see everything with your own eyes, because the threats of hybrid warfare are both about information attacks and about russian propaganda in Europe. According to Carola Rackete, Ukraine has been and remains important for the European Union, as are the initiatives implemented by the non-governmental sector. The visitor is ready not only to listen, but also to be the voice of an active Ukrainian society in building a constructive dialogue with European institutions. In turn, Nataliya Kabatsiy noted that the leitmotif of this dialogue should now be the continuation of support for humanitarian initiatives for Ukraine.
