Another area of the project "Improving the Protection of Children in Emergencies in Ukraine by Providing Safe Shelters, Food and Non-Food Items, and Psychosocial Support", which the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya is implementing with the support of "terre des hommes Deutschland e.V." and funding from the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, has been completed. Recently, we have equipped a women’s health room in the Antenatal Clinic No. 1 (Women's Health Clinic) in Uzhhorod with modern equipment.

The facility received a hysteroscope with high-quality optics, an endoscopic camera, a fetal monitor, a colposcope system, and a gynecological chair to provide high-quality diagnosis and treatment for its clients. According to Iryna Panait, head of the healthcare facility, this equipment allows the outpatient level of the women’s health clinic to quickly detect signs of women’s health disorders, prevent the development of complications, and monitor the course of pregnancy and the condition of the fetus.

"Now we can perform office diagnostic hysteroscopy, which will allow us to identify the causes and diagnose various gynecological diseases immediately during the appointment, videocolposcopy – a progressive method of gynecological examination, and cardiotocography as the most accurate form of prenatal diagnosis", says Iryna Panait.

Previously, such procedures were carried out mainly in private clinics, but now they are available to every visitor of the Antenatal Clinic No. 1 in the regional center of Zakarpattia. In fact, this is equipment that enables specialists to examine the state of the reproductive system, respond in time to various disorders, prepare a woman’s body for motherhood, accompany her during pregnancy, and monitor the condition of the fetus and mother. In this way, we support the professional level of the institution’s specialists by providing them with the necessary tools to use advanced techniques in their professional activities and expand their own competencies. The new equipment has already been used during visits to expectant mothers.

Every year, hundreds of women come to the clinic for consultations and treatment. Since the beginning of the full-scale russian-Ukrainian war, the workload of doctors has increased significantly due to internal migration of the population, especially in the west of the country and in Uzhhorod in particular. Therefore, our project, among other things, aims to help not only citizens but also professionals who provide services to them and ensure the functioning of socially important services and facilities. We are confident that the currently implemented stage of the project will provide significant support to Ukrainian doctors and their patients.
