Currently, a monitoring mission of the organization "Electriciens sans frontières" (Electricians without borders) is in Ukraine to find out how the country is preparing for the winter. During the visit, Issen Didier and François Grunewald visited the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya, with which the organization has been cooperating for a year.

First of all, the visitors were interested in the vision of short-term and long-term prospects within the state, which would help optimize the planning of further assistance.

"We proceed from the current situation and understanding of the problem. Thus, there are institutions that cannot be left without electricity and heat under any circumstances, such as hospitals, shelters... There are areas where there are no guarantees of stability, but people live there. These are frontline regions or regions bordering russia. There are de-occupied settlements where the enemy does not leave any infrastructure intact, but this does not stop local residents from returning home. Therefore, we understand where, first of all, there is a need for alternative energy sources, and we are trying to provide such assistance within our and our partners’ capabilities", said Nataliya Kabatsiy, director of the CO "CF "MACZ".

During the period of cooperation, the Committee received generators, heaters and convectors, lighting devices, air filters, extension cords and cables, blankets, kits with everything necessary for survival in blackout conditions – in total, almost 7000 pieces of equipment from "Electriciens sans frontiers". All this help was a lifesaver during the enemy’s attacks on the country’s power system for hospitals, educational institutions, shelters, points of invincibility, institutions and facilities providing services to the public, hundreds of Ukrainian families in almost all regions of Ukraine. Logistics for this humanitarian aid was provided by our partners from the SAFE Association (France).

It is worth noting that since the beginning of the full-scale russian military invasion, the Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattya has purchased and received more than 500 generators of various capacities from international partners. All of them have strengthened the energy independence of the country and the population, allowing them to survive the consequences of enemy shelling of the country’s critical infrastructure.
