More than 20 students majoring in "Special Education" and "Physical Therapy. Occupational Therapy ”of Uzhhorod National University together with their teachers visited Vilshansky Orphanage and Social Abilitation and Rehabilitation Centre “Parasolka”. This academic year, young professionals will undergo their internships here, mastering their specialties.
During the one-day visit, the students got acquainted with the staff of the institution, its inhabitants, learned about the activities of the orphanage, and the services provided in the institution.
The future practical cycle meets the approved educational concept, providing students with the opportunity to develop holistically, with the help of theoretical knowledge and practical experience, to become professional specialists in special education, social work, and labour agogic. Joint work in the organisation of appropriate practice bases contributes to the formation of students' key competencies: professional, social, methodological, and self-competencies - from theories and concepts through values and analytical instruments to conscious self-identification with the profession chosen.
The idea of creation of practice bases for future specialists with the involvement of the potential of Vilshansky Orphanage and Social Abilitation and Rehabilitation Centre "Parasolka" arose in the CO "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia" several years ago. Nowadays this idea has been implemented within the framework of a joint Ukrainian-Swiss project aimed at creating a sustainable and effective training system to ensure the provision of quality social and therapeutic services. As a reminder, a trilateral partnership agreement on cooperation was signed by the Charitable Organisation "Medical Aid Committee in Zakarpattia", Uzhhorod National University, and the Parasolka Association (Switzerland) in September 2019.
